Meet the founder

I’m Marisa McCracken, book lover, author, editor, and business owner.

I’ve always known that I would be a business owner, but figuring out what type of business I would own was a trickier question. At first I was going to own a dental practice. I even finished a biology degree, but by that time I knew dental school was NOT for me. During my MBA program I debated having a bakery, house or furniture flipping, or some sort of non-profit in support of shelter animals. It wasn’t until after my MBA that I truly fell in love with reading again. I’ve always loved books. As a kid I devoured them, reading 7-10 books a week. When I finally had time to myself after five years of college, the habit returned. In that process I discovered a love for reading diverse authors and characters, but those books were a little harder to find, and that didn’t seem okay to me. Some research, a lovely little podcast called Fated Mates, and a leap into the bookstagram community helped me realize my dream. I wanted to help all authors build successful careers, not just the ones the traditional publishing industry deemed worthy. Two years, a marriage, a legal degree in intellectual property, and three WIPs later, McCracken Book Company was born.
